Another very successful exhibition was held over the weekend of
8th/9th November, with even the threatened storm on Sunday waiting until almost
everyone had loaded and left before deluging over the school!
As is now usual we had a quiz for the under-16s, designed principally to get
them looking more closely at the layouts. This year only three children
answered all the questions correctly and as there was just one prize, an 00
gauge Thomas the Tank Engine set Set donated by World of Model Railways,
Mevagissey, we had to have a draw for the winner, which was eight year old
George, from Bodmin who had visited the exhibition on the Saturday.
Below are photos of some of the exhibits at the 2008
Exhibition.

An essential job - Graham Muspratt doing some track cleaning on Fisherton Sarum
before opening time.
Stephen Austin, the well-known railway author,
brought his stand of Southern memorabilia.
Paddy Ryder's "Spirit of the Southern" is a
complex N gauge model - who said "Big is beautiful"?
Bob Thorne's 0 gauge layout, "Godshill", is named
after the village in the Isle of Wight, but set deep in GWR territory!
John Greenwood's 2mm finescale model of Wenfordbridge has a
working crane to transfer the load from the working tractor and trailer to the
working train!
John Bowler's "Pengwarnick Quarry" is
a small H0 scale narrow gauge layout with a lot of detail.
Lee Johns has a different layout every year - this one,
"Okebridgey" is based on the Southern line between Okehampton and
Wadebridge.
Nothing moves on Rob Foster's "Bude Quay", an award-winning 0
gauge diorama, but it is full of interest and detail. Maybe Big is
Beautiful!
Andy Jones and the Burnham & District MRC brought Oddsanend
which, of course, features a canal.
The Vintage Hornby Collectors Association with a mix of 0 gauge
and 00/H0 on the Sunday.
"Fisherton Sarum" is Graham Muspratt's
fine layout based on the Salisbury Motive Power Depot. The engine at the front
of the left hand photo is N15x Nº2333 Remembrance, a fitting tribute
on Remembrance Sunday.
Jon Hewlett was demonstrating 7mm modelling on the Cornwall 0
Gauge Group's stand.
This under constructio layout by Geoff Stevens is based on the
Motive Power Depot at Gillingham in Kent.
Cecil Newby likes his Big Trains, here with a young
assistant to make them go!
The Bodmin & Wadebridge Railway had a display about its
hopes of rebuilding the Southern line from Bodmin to Wadebridge.
John Ferrier's "The Oval", built using Hornby
Dublo three-rail track, is always popular with the youngsters.
Spencer Robinson had a display table of his hand-made signals in
various scales.
